It is OK to ask for help

If you’ve ever shied away from asking for help out of fear of feeling weak, you are not alone.

I have always been afraid to ask people for help; especially when it’s beneficial to me and not them. I’ve always considered asking for help a vulnerability; after all, who wants to willingly reveal their weaknesses? Or so I thought.

As I grew older and became more aware, I learned and accepted that I cannot do everything on my own. The old adage said, “No man is an island, no man stands alone”.

Growing into your self

Like many persons, I watched #NappilyEverAfter and I must say I was very much intrigued. I think like many others though, I had expected a wedding at the end of the movie. The lack thereof, however, signals that the focus of the movie wasn’t about the #happilyeverafter; but more so about stepping out of everyone’s idea of who you are and what you represent into your own true self. I must say, well played Sanaa Lathan!

Let’s raise a glass to self-acceptance, knowing that it is not determined by perfection.
